Sister in tow

During the week of August 26-30, 2014, my sister Pauline of Aliso Viejo, CA came to see us.

We stayed overnight at the Marriott. As you can see, we had a room with a view and dancing with joy.

She left a piece of her at Gum Alley. (I was grossed out the entire time. Gagging.)
8-27 Biscuit lunch Seattle (1)
We ate at a restaurant that mainly served biscuit. We were seated overlooking the bakery downstairs.

While waiting for our order, we watched staff stir, pour, knead and bake. It was very entertaining.

My sister ordered fried chicken, fried egg over biscuit and gravy. You can’t see it, but it’s on a clear plate.
8-27 Duck tour Seattle (12)
We went on a city tour. This bus went on land and water. A bonus for Owen!

I’m afraid of water and being on this lake had me worried.

That house with the red roof was the one from the movie “Sleepless in Seattle”.

Our tour guide had Owen go to the front and patrolled the water while the guide talked to us.

Bed & Brkfst babysitting
Richard & I stayed at a B&B for one night. While away, Aunt Pauline babysat Owen. She built him a campfire, made him s’mores and they went on the roof of the trailer. They got to spend quality time together as did Richard & I.

It was nice seeing my sister.

Lithia Park, Ashland Oregon

I met a woman named Malia and we got to talking… (like how I met most of my friends). She volunteers at the community events and teaches arts and crafts to children. (I practically met myself!). I told her we’re always open to meeting locals and being one with nature. She recommended a few local hot spots for Owen to enjoy.

Lithia Park was one of them.

This park had trails galore and goes on for miles. You can choose dirth path or paved. You can hike above Ashland Creek and be amongst the trees or along the creek where you can hear it rushing continously. You can walk your dog or your stroller. You can get a good work out or just have a picnic along the creek.

We chose to hike along the creek around the evening and it was such a humid warm day. Not as enjoyable but the deers we kept encountering made my sour disposition go away. We saw about 4 and two babies.

We ventured to the far end of the park where Malia told me about the dam where the kids swim at the reservoir.

That would be a deer grazing while the hula-dancing class swayed away.

Short Hike amongst the trees

We  didn’t want to leave yet and couldn’t get enough of the Oregon trees. Here we are enjoying a short, paved-hike.

The trail was located right behind this gift shop-restaurant with free water station and restroom. My kind of trail...
